There will be scheduled train rides during the Triennial. To sign up for a ride go to the gazebo located at the Southwest corner of Central Station. There will be a station agent and sign up sheets for the rides. Train Mountain is very big and to see all of the mountain we will have 3 seperate routes. To see all of Train Mountain you will need to go on 3 seperate rides so plan accordingly. There will be scheduled rides Monday through Friday. Saturday is the Big Parade so no scheduled rides at TM but there will be rides at K&W on Saturday. No scheduled rides on Sunday.

One route is from Central Station to Midway Circle and the G Scale railroad. This route will pretty much cover the Southlands. 1 1/2 hours

Second route will be Central Station through Klamath and Western to M&M Corner and return. This will include Apsen Grove. 1 1/2 hours

The third route will be the Northlands from Central Station to Hope Circle. This ride will be a long ride of up to 3 hours.

We may also have a couple of night rides but these are not yet manned so therefore not scheduled.

The Triennial Committee has no control of the weather or the temperature so please dress accordingly and bring extra water, bug spray, and of course your camera. These trains fill up quickly so make sure you get your name on the list. Also make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

There may be other rides on other trains but those are provided by the members wishing to give rides. They are not on any planned schedule. If you do take a ride on a members train please treat them with respect and obey what ever safety concerns the operator provides you. Be Safe.

Watch this site for the schedule once it is firmed up. We want everyone to get a ride and to see all of Train Mountain.
Remember that it can get really hot during the day. In addition to bug spray and more water than you think you'll need (really), also wear sun screen, sun glasses, a hat and wear (or at least take with you) a light weight long sleeved shirt with a collar. If you wear shorts, use the sunscreen on your legs before you leave or, better yet, wear lightweight long pants. Also wear heavy socks and good walking shoes (do I need to explain why?)

If planning a night run, be aware it can get cool at night. The mosquitoes will love you if you don't bug spray yourself (including hidden areas such as right above your socks.) Wear long pants and bring a sweatshirt or jacket. A small flashlight is also a good item to include in your back-pack. If you think you'll get hungry, bring along a snack and extra water (it's dry and you can get dehydrated even at night.)

If you have children with you, be doubly sure you do this for the kids. Trying to get your kids to sleep at night after they are sunburned and/or have been eaten by the bugs can ruin your camping experience.
The false rumors about closing the track to all except scheduled trains is simply NOT TRUE!

The running of these scheduled trains should in no way hamper any ones running of their trains during the Triennial. These are just trains that are being made available so that those folks that come to the Triennial without any equipment can get a chance to get a ride around the park.

The trains will run every day except Saturday. Saturday is the day of the big parade so mainline traffic through Central Station would be very difficult. If you are there on Saturday and want a train ride go over to the Klamath and Western which will be running. In addition to the scheduled trains there will be a lunch train each day that will take you from Central Station to the Diner at Klamath and Western or down to Midway and back for lunch.

There will be no train rides during the work week as the track is closed to all trains except work trains until 4:00 pm each day. The exception would be the K&W lunch train. Free running is available after 4:00 pm.

We hope this clears up any misinformation that has been spread about closing the track to all except for scheduled trains, that is just NOT TRUE!
